Tapur and Tupur, the sensational twins are creating waves in the modelling world. Two years back they didn’t not exist and now their names are on everybody’s lips. Born on 24th of April, 1980, they are carbon copies of each other. Tupur is 12 minutes older than her twin, Tapur. They though look alike and even their names sound similar but basically both of then are poles apart mentally. They share a very deep bond and are always there for one another.

They have a pretty impressive portfolio and have done ads for Titan Raga watches, Lakme and Park Avenue amongst others with a cover for Femina and numerous fashion features in various magazines like Elle and Cosmopolitan. They have also been offered a couple of Bollywood movies but right now they are not interested in joining films coz modelling is their first priority.

Tapur, is a commercial artist from Sophia College while Tupur, is a genetics student from St. Xavier’s. “ We came into this profession just by chance and luck and hard work has brought us here”. Asked if looking alike was ever a problem Tapur puts in very sweetly, “ No, its our plus point. At first it did cause some trouble but we didn’t let it bother us. We had a great bonding and didn’t let outsiders create problems between us”.

Everyone must be wondering what is the meaning of their name, right? When asked amidst peals of girlish laughter, Tapur says, "Our grandparents got the names from Rabindranath Tagore poem, 'Brishti Porey Tapur-Tupur!' which means, ‘Pitter-patter falls the rain!’" We love our names as it is unique and stands out in the crowd and people find it easy to remember too.

Tupur Chatterjee is one of the granddaughter of legendary filmmaker  Hrishikesh Mukherjee , who gave us films like Satyakam, Anupama, Chupke Chupke, Guddi or Abhimaan. Tupur and Tapur are twins born to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s daughter. Both were models, who had been very popular walking on ramps and even have endorsed several brands. Twins Tapur and Tupur were even once considered to be the upcoming twinkle-twinkle little stars and there was a hope for both of them to work in a movie. The film was announced by J P Dutta, who wanted to introduce the twins to Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khans’s two sons Ayaan and Amaan Ali Khan. But J P Dutta had dumped the two heroines and hence they could not get noticed in any films. However, coming to Tupur Chatterjee, she was a commercial art student and a recipient of the Presidents' Award for poster designing. She has taken up modeling career as a personal choice. She used to get offers for modeling when she was studying in college. She also has walked many ramps with leading designers of the modeling world. She was also very selective in her assignments in order to avoid too much exposure.

In this modeling world, where one will outshine other celebrity, both sisters stayed far ahead of any completion. She is health conscious and regarded her mother as a woman with a good skin. It is still not known why Tupur was not considered in any Bollywood movies, when there is a huge scope of model turned actresses now. Tupur Chatterjee is married to Dubai businessman Sonu Shewakramani, who has business in Lagos, Nigeria and the groom’s parents live in Dubai. Her favorite designers are Sabyasachi Mukherjeeand Ritu Kumar. Being a super model, she lives the glamorous world every day. Even though, she never got any break in movies, she feels people get into films because of glamour, money and attention- which she has too in her domain now. She was born on April 24, 1980 in Kolkata. Her mother was Surashree Chatterjee, daughter of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, married to Sumeet Chatterjee.
